Megan Jones to captain England in Women's Six Nations

Megan Jones will captain all-conquering world champions England in the upcoming Women's Six Nations, the Rugby Football Union announced Thursday.

The 29-year-old centre replaces 2025 World Cup-winning captain Zoe Stratford (nee Aldcroft), who is expecting her first child.

"Firstly, I'm really excited for Zoe and wish her and Strats every happiness on their news," said Jones, promoted her previous position of vice-captain by England women's head coach John Mitchell.

"It's a huge honour to have been named captain of the Red Roses. Mitch and I have built a strong relationship over the past three years and it's a great feeling to have his trust to lead the group along with a tight leadership team.

England have won the last seven Women's Six Nations and are on a record run of 33 consecutive wins since losing the Covid-delayed 2022 World Cup final to tournament hosts New Zealand.

England launch their Six Nations title defence against Ireland at Twickenham on April 11.
